Sunless Sea Auxiliary Slot
Weapons are equipment mounted on ships crossing the Unterzee to defend against monsters and pirates inhabiting it. No captain with a self-preservation instinct ever leaves port without at least a deck gun mounted.
Sunless Sea A game of survival, trade and exploration in the universe of Fallen London. Change Equipment Slot from Aft to Auxiliary? From IHNIWTR: 3/12/2019 from. There's only room for once piece or equipment in each slot. All ships can have an Engine, a Deck gun, a Bridge lamp, and a piece of Auxiliary equipment. Only larger ships can mount Aft equipment and a Forward weapon. When not fitted to a slot, most equipment is considered Cargo and takes up space in the Hold.
Weapon Slots[edit edit source]
All ships, no matter their size, can mount a Deck weapon. Larger ships may also be able to mount a Foward weapon, and possibly an Aft weapon. Each weapon is designed for only one of these three slots, and cannot be mounted elsewhere.
- Deck weapons have a very wide firing angle and a good range.
- Forward weapons have a much narrower firing angle, but a better range. Most are specialized and have interesting properties, either doing extra damage to beasts and crew, or staggering enemies and doing extra damage to ships. All torpedo-launchers and flensing weapons are Forward-mounted.
- Aft weapons can fire upon enemies
while the ship is fleeing from themwhich have snuck up behind our brave London zee-captains! They take longer to aim, but deliver powerful attacks that stagger enemies for a longer time. The Aft equipment slot is unique in that its pieces of equipment include both weapons and non-weapons.
Weapon Types[edit edit source]
There are four main types of weapons on the zee: cannons, torpedo-launchers, flensing weapons, and Icaruses in Black.
- Cannons are standard weaponry, equally effective against ships and beasts. They do not consume ammunition. All Deck and Aft weapons are standard cannons.
- Flensing weapons are specialized weaponry designed to rip and tear the flesh of zee-beasts (as well as their scales, shells, hide, chitin, spines, ichorous membranes, wings, etc.) They do more damage to beasts than to the hulls of ships, and are better at killing enemy Crew than staggering enemies. Like cannons, flensing weapons do not require ammunition. All flensing weapons are Forward-mounted.
- Torpedo-launchers are specialized weaponry designed to blow apart the hulls of enemy vessels. They are quite powerful, though they deal somewhat less damage to beasts and enemy crew. Firing any torpedo-launcher consumes one unit of Torpedo Components. All torpedo-launchers are Forward-mounted.
- Icaruses in Black deal impressive damage to ships, and utterly apocalyptic damage to monsters. However, each shot requires.... unusual ammunition. The entire Icarus in Black is Forward-mounted.
